We live in Newark, Nottinghamshire in a beautiful listed building called the Ossington. Along the end of our first floor property is a wooden balcony. We had noticed over the years as we repaired and repainted the wood that the condition was deteriorating rapidly. Called in several companies who kicked the balustrades and mumbled there was not much they could do. Heard about Ian from a friend in Norfolk who raved about his work. Ian came up, took photographs and spent a good few hours measuring. Immediately knew he was a craftsman and would be able to do the work. Since our building is Grade 11 listed I had to involve Heritage in the process and knew how strict and particular they are. Ian constructed the entire balustrade in his workshop. He arrived with this in his van with a helper and within four days removed the rotting pieces and installed his work. It was like a huge jigsaw puzzle and it fitted to the millimetre. Ian cleaned up as they worked, removed all of the old rotting bits and when they left it looked as before but was sound and solid. Heritage said the work done was excellent, and from what I’ve heard about them, this was a great compliment. I would recommend Ian to anyone who needs carpentry work done. He is a craftsman who obviously loves his work and loves wood. Also very neat, very talented and fun to be around. Thank you Ian.
